Ski trip and overnight at Dalegubben
We had planned Holmshornet <3 My absolute favorite, this day. So we loaded up our bags with overnight gear, some climbing gear and skis on our backpacks. We started at Søbøneset, and walked Åseråsa towards Gunnarråsa, we thought it would be okay to walk the easiest råsa at least for a bit, Skondalen is long and heavy enough so we would have to struggle in time... But the forest was dense up through the råsa, and the skis were long, so it might have been worth it to walk Gunnarråsa anyway :-)
But we made it up and out of the forest, right across the river at the entrance to Skondalen we were able to put on our skis, and the backpack immediately became easier to carry :.-)

3 hours of hard work from the start at Sæbøneset we were supposed to have a well-deserved break, and it was a looooong one :-D In fact 3 hours, we sat there in the snow and just enjoyed the view, ate, and ate again...before we moved on. It was a beautiful day, we started in a bit of cloudy weather, but it was warm and nice. Real summer temperature.

Once up in the skaret, where we were going to turn right over the egga, we saw that there was still too much snow to safely climb over without snow anchors. So we went for plan B, but there's no bad plan B. Dalagubben is fantastic to wake up to, I've done it once before, and the view is fabulous!

This is my absolute favorite area. Right across from my childhood home, the most beautiful playpen you could ask for! No wonder I'm smiling from ear to ear. Behind me they tower in a row, Lynghalstinden at the top of the picture, and then Saudekratinden.

Once up at Dalagubben we had a great time, took lots of pictures, and had lunch one more time before dinner... Today we had skipped the steak... since we had so much to do we made the easiest choice: Real mountain food, absolutely fine! But wine, THAT is what we can't do without when we're going to spend the night in such an exclusive place <3
The sunset was drowning in some threatening clouds, but we got to see the pink and orange colors. I had hoped that the sun would come back into the fjord and paint Stålberghornet and the other fjord mountains pink, but it didn't today. There have been such fantastic sunsets lately, but today there were a little too many clouds on the horizon for it to shine through the fjord before it set for the evening. But no reason to cry about it.. It was still beautiful!
...and 3 hours later she was there again.. Midsummer night that is <3
We slept a little longer, then I woke up to the smell of coffee; Stein had sneaked out of the bag before me, and was busy making breakfast. It was a warm day, and the sun had started to work on the snow in Skondalen. Best to get down before there was any danger of sunburn.
A short stop at Fredbua at the top of Gunnarråsa, and a little waddling on this... Another great overnight stay was a success, and the memory bank was filled to the brim <3
